My Sandals Trip, March 2018
Sandals Inn & Sandals Royal Caribbean, Jamaica
The day continued with a transfer over to Sandals Inn (approx. 10 mins) which is located on the "Hip Strip" where lots of local shops and restaurants, including the infamous Margaritaville, are located. Sandals Inn is different from all other Sandals Resorts, it is a very small intimate hotel situated across the road from a small public beach. This resort is perfect for those looking for a resort with more of a bed and breakfast feel but with exceptional service where the staff become like family and the ability to experience life with the locals. Plus you can always stay at one and play at all 3 so you can enjoy the best of all Sandals Resorts have to offer.
Though it may be small, Sandals Inn still offers a variety of dining and entertainment options. For me, the circular bar at Nibbles felt like a central meeting point for this fun and friendly place with a dart board and premium drinks all included...not forgetting service with the most amazing smile!
The beautiful grounds are peaceful and offer the chance to step away from the main pool area for some R&R, they are the perfect spot for an enchanted candle lit, private dinner for two or wedding celebration.
Though the rooms are on the smaller side they are beautifully furnished and nearly all offer an ocean view. The carpet, dark wood furnishings and decorative windows make it feel like an old colonial villa but with all the mod cons such as gym and complimentary room service.
For more information on Sandals Inn contact me by phone or email, I will be more than happy to talk to you!
From Sandals Inn we headed back to Sandals Royal Caribbean for a tour of the resort including the private island exclusive to this resort and the incredible over water bungalows! I got to take a peak inside several different room types from beachfront to swim up and honeymoon suites. Each room has a unique feature, things like the tranquility soaking tubs on your private patio or balcony (don't worry, there are curtains you can pull across for privacy) to luxurious, spacious bathrooms, four posted king size beds and native dark wood furnishings.
If spa treatments are your special indulgence on a vacation, then you will not be disappointed with Sandals Red Lane Spas. The one on site at Sandals Royal Caribbean is nestled in among the gorgeous gardens with waterfalls and exotic statues. The most noticeable thing when you step in to the reception area of the spa, is the gorgeous smells of they products they use (red lane spa products are made in Jamaica and are used all over the resort and are supplied in your room also). Couples massages are their specialty and you can choose from one of their cool and relaxing rooms or a private cabana with sound of the ocean a few steps away to relax and rejuvenate.
Sandals Royal Caribbean isn't a big resort and even at full capacity nowhere ever felt crowded. It is a peaceful and relaxed resort with a little bit of everything for everyone. Being a Brit I really loved this resort for its fusion of British and Bali inspired decor and service. The main pool with swim up bar is more of the fun and social central location, they do play music by the pool and the beach is only a few steps away, along with The Mariner Restaurant and Bella Napoli Pizzeria for delicious, casual food options. For those who prefer a quieter location to enjoy the beach and pool, there is another pool in the Kensington Village where no music or entertainment takes place. There is also the Crystal Lagoon Village where the swim up suites are, these pools are amazingly lit at night!
After finishing our tour of the main land at Sandals Royal Caribbean we then headed over the their exclusive private island. The island is open to all guests and is where the Royal Thai Restaurant (reservations required) is located, along with a pool, bar and beach. The north side of the islands beach also offers a private place for those who like a clothing optional location. To reach the island there are continuous boats that will take you over and back. The water is very shallow and it only takes a few minutes. There are also boats that are for the exclusive use of those staying at one of the over water bungalows or villas which can only be reached by boat or from the private island.
As one over water bungalows was not occupied we were very lucky to be able to get a peak inside one of the stunning private rooms. The security guarded boardwalk led out to a ring, or rather a heart shape, of individual rooms, each with a glass floor at the foot of the king sized bed and private patio with luxury lounge furniture, tranquility soaking tub (villas also have an infinity pool) and over water hammock. Each room has 3 butlers (day, evening and over night) assigned to it to take care of your every need including meals and drinks brought to your room to enjoy inside or out. If you want true luxury, service and complete privacy then these gorgeous rooms will exceed your expectations in every way.
TIP: Why not spend a few days on the resort mainland and then end your trip with a few days in one of these over water rooms to experience the best of both!
If you would like more information on any of the rooms, over water bungalows/villas or options at Sandals Royal Caribbean, please reach out to me, I would love to talk to you about all the amazing inclusions!
